All that time spent
Staring at the sea
Immersed in a mystery
Unbeknownst to me
Just thought to be
Terribly alone in pain and lonely
The sounds of wind
From all directions
The roaring surf
The seagulls foraging
Drowning out the noise in me
A kind of blessed cacophony
Of un-silent silent serenity
Never knowing why thus drawn
Inexorably..?
Is it in all of us?
Whatever this could be?
This often searched for
Object of curiosity
Never really hoped to find what I was looking for
Seemed another fantasy to me
Never escaped for long
Always just a few steps beyond
The opened cell behind me
I could back right in without even looking
So effortlessly
A few steps forward
I could disappear
Meld into the horizon
Lose myself…
And dream
Of a warm, plush comfortable blanket,
Being wrapped around me as I trembled
Alone In the dark
salty tears
